How to convert kelvins to degrees Fahrenheit
A kelvin is 1.8 times bigger than a degree Fahrenheit and the scales start from different zero points, so the conversion goes through Celsius. To convert, subtract 273.15, multiply by 9/5 (1.8), then add 32:
Mental-math shortcut: Subtract 273.15, multiply by 1.8 and add 32 — or in one step, °F = K × 1.8 − 459.67.
Example
Convert 300 kelvins to degrees Fahrenheit: 300 K − 273.15 = 26.85 °C, and 26.85 × 1.8 + 32 = 80.33 °F.

What is the Kelvin scale?
The kelvin (K) is the SI base unit of temperature, used in science and engineering. The scale starts at absolute zero (0 K = −273.15 °C), the coldest possible temperature, so it has no negative values. Kelvins are written without a degree sign: water freezes at 273.15 K and boils at 373.15 K.
What is the Fahrenheit scale?
The Fahrenheit scale (°F) is used mainly in the United States. Water freezes at 32 °F and boils at 212 °F at sea level, so there are 180 degrees between those two points instead of 100. Normal body temperature is about 98.6 °F.
